Description:Job Summary:
The clinic pharmacist provides direct support to pharmacy operations, clinics within medical office buildings and infusion pharmacies. The clinic pharmacist ensures the clinic administered medication program functions as intended through inventory systems support, consultations with physicians and ensuring urgently needed medication is made available to patients being discharged from or treated in acute care clinics.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Coordinate clinic administered medication inventory within the EPIC Willow Inventory and Pyxis Enterprise System (ES) and Equipment, including but not limited to:
- Generating reports for identifying stockouts and monitoring medications with supply disruptions to ensure adequate supplies of alternative agents are readily available.
- Removal of expired medications and transport to Pharmacy Operations for processing through reverse distributor.
- PAR (Min/Max) analysis for both Pyxis and non-Pyxis clinic areas (achieved by generating Pyxis ES reporting from the server).
- Implementation of adjusted PAR levels and ensuring adequate quantities of medications are available to optimize the efficiency of loading/refiling the Pyxis med stations.
- Emptying return bins and reloading medications after inspection and verification of medication integrity.
- Oversight of controlled substance inventory reconciliation.
- Monthly completion of Pyxis OBP audits and follow-up on any corrective action plan.
- Participate in clinic standard stock adherence management.
- Support Pyxis IT/physical trouble-shooting.
- Provides direct support to Pharmacy Operations for EPIC Willow Inventory functions, including but not limited to:
- Adjustment of optimum PAR levels (if auto adjustment is not working properly).
- Addressing negative balances.
- Addressing recalls.
- Reviewing and adjusting draft orders prior to One Link submission.
- Completion of quarterly non-Pyxis OBP audits and follow-up on any corrective action plan.
- Serves as the subject matter expert and provides drug therapy consultations for Acute Clinics and Advance Urgent Care settings.
- Willow Verification Queue Prospective Review Program (AUC).
- Medication Reconciliation for Overnight Stay Admission patients in AUC Observation Space- providing providers recommendations to medication formulary (std stock med) selection/medication omissions PRN, etc.
- Sterile compound for AUC (limited exceptional cases of miscellaneous products normally not in clinic).
- Supports oncology/infusion sterile compounding pharmacy as needed.
- Advance Prep work (chart/lab review, order (refill) processing/label generation for next day mixing).
- Collaborates with Pharmacy Operations, Pharmacy Support Teams, Nursing, MAPMG, Vendors, National and Regional Teams as applicable during project development and implementation to support requirements for launch.
- Triages and coordinates resolution of support requests to provide an initial assessment and resolution. Appropriately escalates complex issues to appropriate stakeholders (CAM Team, Informatics, etc.)
- Ensures compliance related to all regulatory rules and regulations specific to clinic licensing, DEA, State Boards of Pharmacy, HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, Medicare, and other regulatory/oversight entities as necessary.
- Participates in drug use management initiatives and strategies to promote cost-effective prescribing.
- Supports measures promoting quality outcomes and patient safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- PharmD required.
License, Certification, Registration
This job requires credentials from multiple states. Credentials from the primary work state are required at hire. Additional Credentials from the secondary work state(s) are required post hire.
Pharmacist License (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire
Pharmacist License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire
- Pharmacist License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work effectively with other functional areas as appropriate.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical products and terminology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum one (1) year of experience and/or training in medication Inventory Management preferred.
- Minimum two (2) years Pyxis operational experience preferred.
- Familiarity with OneLink Reporting system preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and pivot table generation preferred.
- Background in Health Care preferred.
- Experience in project management preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Hospital Inpatient Pharmacy or KPMAS Hospital Transitional Care Pharmacist.
- One year residency in emergency medicine (or equivalent experience).
- Must have at least 2 years of pyxis experience.
- Managerial experience will be a plus.
