Description
Children's Hospital of Michigan is an international leader in pediatric and adolescent medicine. Surgical services include general, thoracic, reconstructive and cardiovascular. Imaging technology designed specifically for children provides advanced diagnostic services including Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and MRI. The Children's Hospital of Michigan Emergency Department is a verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and dedicated pediatric burn center. Experts in pediatric critical care, rehabilitation, and neonatal and perinatal medicine provide care for thousands of children every year at Children's Hospital of Michigan, Children's Hospital of Michigan - Troy and six ambulatory sites.Summary:
Reporting to the VP Patient Care Services or chief nursing leader for the site and through subordinate leadership personnel, directs practice, quality, personnel, operations and financial activities of nursing services and other departments, such as respiratory therapy, as assigned. Responsible for nursing staffing, resource recruitment and staff development. Promotes advanced nursing practice and career development opportunities for staff through leadership, educational opportunities and advancement incentives. Ensures the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and nursing standards in accordance with DMC standards of care, government and licensing requirements. Ensures that nursing practice meets the acceptable industry standards. Works closely with medical staff leadership to promote collaborative practice models between physicians and physician extenders and nursing staff. Enhances processes and care delivery that maximizes patient and customer satisfaction with nursing services. Develops operating budget and regularly reviews and reports on financial performance of nursing and related services. Collaborates with service line directors to manage the delivery of multidisciplinary patient services within established budgetary, quality, customer service and regulatory guidelines. Collaborates with the top Nursing leader for the site and/or Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for the system on issues related to nursing and patient education, standards of care, training of nursing personnel and policies and procedures related to the provision of patient care. May participate as a member of senior management team in the development of strategic plans for the operating unit. Participates as a member of certain administrative and quality committees and provides staff support to Board committees, as appropriate. Identifies opportunities for organizational effectiveness that enhance overall performance, productivity, quality and expeditious issue resolution. Participates in and supports system-wide initiatives and improvement efforts.Supports the standards set forth in the DMC's Code of Conduct by creating an atmosphere of commitment to legal and ethical standards, and as directed, implementing external and internal audit recommendations. Monitors activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations JCAHO requirements, and DMC policies and procedures. Qualifications:
1.Masters Degree Required in Nursing, Business, Health Care Administration or related field. Of two degrees one must be in Nursing.
2. Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan. Current certification in a related nursing specialty, preferred. Certification required within one year of hire.
3. Five years of experience which may be concurrent clinical and/or progressively more responsible management experience.
