Southwest Medical Associates (SMA) is a multi-specialty group of physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, consisting of over 200 providers, fourteen clinical locations including nine health care centers, five urgent care clinics and an outpatient surgery center. SMA offers patients compassion, innovation, and quality care throughout southern Nevada. SMA is headquartered in the greater Las Vegas, NV area.

The RN Supervisor in conjunction with other members of the management team is responsible for the interview, selection, orientation, development, evaluation, discipline, and competency of Preop/PACU staff.

Primary Resposibilities:
  • Assures appropriate staff ratios and coordination of staff assignments to ensure immediate availability of staff for proper care and quality of patient care services
  • Ensures staff ability to identify significant potential or real surgical care issues requirement reporting to anesthesia or surgical services, including maintenance of a safe environment for patient and staff
  • Liaison between patients, family, surgeon, and staff to coordinate care and services during patient care
  • Assists in ordering of supplies and equipment
  • In conjunction with management team, conducts ongoing evaluations of staffing patterns to promote maximum level of utilization of staff and surgical case scheduling
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures; coordinates staff training as needed or requested
  • Accountable for on-going training of Preop/PACU staff for Southwest Surgical Center competency and compliance programs
  • Participates in record keeping and reporting as required by management and regulations to include hospital transfer, sentinel events, patient incidents, and patient complaints
  • Other duties that may be assigned by Southwest Surgical Center management

Required Qualifications:
  • Current unrestricted RN license in the state of Nevada
  • 2+ years of critical care experience in a Pre OP/PACU environment
  • BLS and ACLS
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of team lead or supervisor experience in an OR Surgery Center environment
  • Ambulatory Surgery Center experience
  • PALS or willing to obtain upon hire
  • Solid organizational leadership skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, physicians and all levels of staff
