- Accurately checks patient's blood sugar and documents results as ordered (all values are correctly reported to attending nurse)
- Obtains vital signs appropriately based on patient's age and condition. Reports abnormal findings immediately to attending or charge nurse
- Performs ADLs on all patients assigned including oral care and assisting with feedings when indicated.
- Documents all patient data in chart within a timely manner (vitals, weight, I/Os)
- Communicates therapeutically with patients in one-to-one situations and focuses on goals and objectives listed in the Multidisciplinary Treatment Plan.
- Performs related duties as required.
Under the direction of the Nurse, performs sub-professional duties including providing patient care to meet the needs of activities of daily living; operation and maintenance of equipment. Takes and records vital signs and I/Os. Assists licensed staff and physicians as directed within approved standards. Performs other related duties as directed. Assumes the responsibility for meeting the basic needs of all patients assigned. Provides care to a patient population ranging from infant to geriatric, unless otherwise indicated. Works collaboratively with the health care team, is customer focused and strives to meet unit and hospital goals. Provides quality care according to established practice standards and guidelines for the area(s) assigned. Must be willing/able to float to other (comparable) nursing units, as requested/needed. Functions as an active member of the Multidisciplinary Treatment Team under the direction and supervision of the RN.
Required:
- Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum Experience: Relevant patient care experience in a hospital setting preferred. Good therapeutic communication skills required.
- Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses:
- American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required, must be obtained within 7 days of hire.
- CPI certification required within orientation period.
