Job Summary
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant provides assistance in aspects of quality patient care under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Implements and executes an established patient treatment plan, communicates with patient, families, referring physicians, and other team members. Provides timely written documentation as required by insurance provider to meet licensing, certification, regulatory, and reimbursement requirements. Reports any changes in patient status or needs to supervising Occupational Therapist in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates proficient skill in implementing an established patient treatment plan
- Effectively communicates with patient, families, referring physicians, and other team members regarding patient status or changes.
- Independently performs all duties required to maintain and complete patient records in a timely manner
- Maintains awareness of patient and community needs, conditions, and programs.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient records and information
- Actively pursues professional development and educational opportunities to expand clinical expertise
- Manages patient caseload and daily operations efficiently
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy Assistant Program required
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant License in the State of Florida required
- Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider required
- EMR/EHR experience preferred, Athena experience preferred
