Job Summary

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs responsible professional work in the evaluation, planning and implementation of Therapeutic Recreation programs to increase, maintain or restore functions, maximize or prevent disability and assist patients in reaching their maximum performance levels in the areas of leisure education, adaptive recreation, and recreational activities. Works within a team in the delivery of care and participates in educational experiences for students. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree in recreation therapy, therapeutic recreation, recreation administration or an equivalent program.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 year as Recreation Therapist
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 2 years as Recreation Therapist
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Licensure as a Recreational Therapist by the Consortium for Therapeutic Recreation/Activity Certification or National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC)
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Therapeutic Recreation Specialist/Texas Certified, TRS/TXC, Therapeutic Recreation Associate//Texas Certified, TRA/TXC, and Activity Director/Texas Certified, AD/TXC
REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
