Job Summary
Per Diem, Rotate
Position Summary:
To provide safe and effective patient care, through the performance of specific duties as the Surgical Technician Specialist in the Operating Room during surgical and other invasive procedures under the direction of a registered nurse. Performs routine scrub duties according to AORN standards and established policies and procedures of the department of surgery. Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment for all. Keeps current and operating room techniques, procedures, instruments, supplies and equipment; assists with the ongoing Performance improvement Program. Required to work flexible hours and be on call nights, weekends and holidays. Assists with annual performance evaluations and competencies.
Qualifications
Education:
Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an approved operating room technician program.
Experience:
Required experience:
- Minimum 3 years experience as an OR Surgical Technologist and 1 year experience in General Surgery
- Experience in assisting in ordering General Surgery supplies for procedures
- Experience in oversight of maintenance and care of surgical instruments & equipment
Required Certification / Licensure / Registration:
- American Heart Association BLS
- Surgical Tech Certification
**Demonstrates yearly competencies specific to unit. Ability to take call.
