Become a part of our caring community and help us put health firstThe Director, IT Portfolio Management collaborates with the business portfolio team to align the IT portfolio and demand. The Director, IT Portfolio Management requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across the function or segment.
Job Summary : The Director of Investment Governance & Portfolio Management will provide strategic oversight, leadership, and management of the IT organization's investment governance processes. This role ensures the effective intake, prioritization, and execution of investment initiatives aligned with enterprise strategic objectives , on both annual and multi-year cadences.
The Director will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including executive leadership, to facilitate transparent decision-making. Along with their team, this function is responsible for the creation of robust governance frameworks to enable integrated IT roadmaps, optimal allocation of resources, and dynamic reporting.
This role will report to the A VP of Strategy and Transformation in IT and is responsible for both leading a team of portfolio managers as well as managing cross-business segment workstreams. Key internal partners in this work are senior leaders and executives, portfolio management teams , and our Agile center of excellence.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, implement, and regularly update investment governance frameworks, ensuring each process is documented, communicated, and aligned with organizational strategy
- Manage the end-to-end intake, review, and prioritization of investment proposals by coordinating submission guidelines, evaluation criteria, and decision timelines with stakeholders
- Partner with Finance to c onduct detailed annual and multi-year investment planning cadences , including financial modeling, scenario analysis, and resource allocation on a rolling basis
- Track investment portfolio performance by generating and distributing standardized reports, analyzing outcomes, and developing targeted recommendations for improvement
- Organize and facilitate cross-functional working sessions with business partners, portfolio managers, and Enterprise Architecture to align investment execution with strategy
- Lead the a dminist ration of Jira Align and dashboarding tools, ensuring all investment initiatives are logged, tracked, and reported with real-time status updates , risk indicators , and appropriate strategic tagging
- Prepare executive-ready materials for quarterly business reviews, synthesizing key data points, progress metrics, and identified risks or opportunities for leadership discussion
- Maintain a comprehensive backlog of unfunded initiatives, ensuring thorough documentation and periodic review to support future prioritization and potential alignment with emerging strategic opportunities
- Proactively scan for and evaluate new strategic opportunities, includin g solutions that drive operational efficiency and innovation , to provide to the CIO

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in economics, business management, or related field; or equivalent experience
- 8 or more years of technical experience
- 5 or more years of management experience
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively and deliver presentations to senior leaders
- Advanced experience leading special projects and producing metrics, measurements and trend reports
- Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
- 7-10 years of experience in initiative, program, or project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role working with executives and managing teams
- Proficiency in related software and tools (e.g., Jira Align, ServiceNow PPM, Azure DevOps, Anaplan, or similar)
- Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and familiarity with analysis frameworks and approaches (e.g., root-cause analysis, hypothesis-based thinking)
- Proficiency in SDLC, Waterfall project management, and Agile methodologies
- Executive stakeholder engagement, cross-enterprise collaboration, presentation, and communication
- Financial acumen, including initiative cost and value tracking
- Understanding of technical domains (e.g., digital, automation, AI, software development lifecycle, security, infrastructure) related to IT projects
- Readiness to work East Coast hours and in an environment of transformation
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or other Advanced Degree
- Possess a solid understanding of operations, technology, communications and processes
- Six Sigma certification
- PMP certification
- Demonstrated ability to run large scale, highly visible programs with responsibility for multiple project teams
Additional Information
Remote/WAH requirements:
- WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.
- A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.
- Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
- A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
***Louisville KY, or DC Metro locations are preferred, though the role is remote.
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$172,300 - $236,900 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
