Job Summary:Drives adherence to appropriate protocols when performing radiologic/fluoroscopic examinations through serving as a subject matter expert on the evaluation of a patients complex clinical history, ensuring patients are received and doubled identified, and developing standard strategies for use when identifying factors that will result in optimum imaging for each patient. Ensures an individualized and compassionate patient care atmosphere by championing strategies to patients on relevant procedures, monitoring appropriate protocols for patient privacy and safety, and directing the overall strategy for addressing patient questions/concerns. Prioritizes patient and employee safety by ensuring compliance with all internal and external safety-related regulations, policies, and procedures, while adhering to and proactively monitoring the evolution of the most appropriate safety measures and instructions. Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the department by ensuring the preparation of departmental supplies and disposables for use in assigned areas while developing opportunities for advancing access, service quality, and efficiency.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Prepares individuals for growth opportunities and advancement; builds internal collaborative networks for self and others. Solicits and acts on performance feedback; drives collaboration to set goals and provide open feedback and coaching to foster performance improvement. Demonstrates continuous learning; oversees the recruitment, selection, and development of talent; ensures performance management guidelines and expectations to achieve business needs. Stays up to date with organizational best practices, processes, benchmarks, and industry trends; shares best practices within and across teams. Motivates and empowers teams; maintains a highly skilled and engaged workforce by aligning resource plans with business objectives. Provides guidance when difficult decisions need to be made; creates opportunities for expanded scope of decision making and impact.
- Oversees the operation of multiple units within a department by identifying member and operational needs; ensures the management of work assignment completion; translates business strategy into actionable business requirements; ensures products and/or services meet member requirements and expectations while aligning with organizational strategies. Gains cross-functional support for business plans and priorities; assumes responsibility for decision making; sets standards, measures progress, and fosters resolution of escalated issues. Communicates goals and objectives; analyzes resources, costs, and forecasts and incorporates them into business plans; prioritizes and distributes resources. Removes obstacles that impact performance; guides performance and develops contingency plans accordingly; ensures teams accomplish business objectives.
- Ensures an individualized and compassionate patient care atmosphere by: championing strategies and providing leadership for personnel to educate patients on relevant procedures, promoting effective communication, addressing patient questions/concerns, and serving as a role model to enhance patient cooperation; refining and disseminating protocols for maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality; directing the overall strategy, operations, and resolution of escalated patient questions/concerns for service recovery; and escalating innovative opportunities for enhancing patient well-being and comfort throughout the duration of patient visits.
- Influences the day-to-day operations of the department by: driving awareness for the importance of maintaining the supply and preparation of departmental supplies and disposables for use in assigned areas, while upholding inventory management standards and policies/protocols; directing the overall cooperative efforts with labor partners to enhance quality, service, and safety while driving cost-saving initiatives throughout the organization, overseeing multiple senior managers; and developing opportunities for advancing access, service quality, and efficiency through systemic strategic innovation and implementation.
- Prioritizes patient and employee safety by: managing programs that ensure compliance with all internal and external safety-related regulations, policies, and procedures (e.g., National Patient Safety Goals, As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) Principles); adhering to and proactively monitoring the evolution of the most appropriate safety measures and instructions provided to patients, family members, and hospital staff as required; directing the overall implementation and enforcement of rules, regulations, and standards to improve quality of care, streamline operations, and mitigate risk throughout the organization, overseeing multiple senior managers; and evaluating the effectiveness of procedures and processes for resolving and/or escalating equipment malfunctions, accidents, and/or unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
- Drives adherence to appropriate protocols when performing radiologic/fluoroscopic examinations by: serving as a subject matter expert when evaluating a patients complex clinical history with the exam to be performed, and when the appropriateness of the alternatives recommended are unclear when contraindications are present; partnering with senior leadership to implement recommended improvements to the way in which patients are received and double identified using appropriate criteria; planning for the routine evaluation of the accuracy of data entered and stored in the Radiology Information System (RIS); leveraging an expert understanding of the features and performance capabilities of the general radiology, fluoroscopy, and portable imaging systems and how it is integrated into the broader diagnostic process; developing standard strategies for use when selecting the technical factors that will result in optimum imaging for each patient; and forecasting the resources needed to implement identified opportunities for improving the efficiency of patient processing and transportation before, during, and after the procedure.

- Minimum three (3) years of experience managing operational or project budgets.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports.
- Bachelors degree in Anatomy, Physiology, Biology, radiological science, Healthcare Administration, or a directly related field AND minimum six (6) years of experience in a directly related field OR Minimum nine (9) years of radiologic technology experience, or experience in a directly related field.

Pay Range: $187100 - $242110 / year Kaiser Permanente is committed to pay equity and transparency.
