POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Practice Manager of Valley Heart Institute with clinical oversight by the on-site Clinical manager, the Sonographer competently performs a variety of standard, specialty and complex adult transthoracic echocardiogram and vascular sonographic examinations and procedures without supervision; producing quality studies under a variety of conditions. Demonstrates independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the application of non-ionizing high frequency ultrasonic waves for cardiac and vascular diagnosis. Applies appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Accurately receives instructions verbally, written and electronic, and ensures they are carried out as directed. Demonstrates anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by or at the request of the cardiologist. Maintains and respects patient's confidentiality. Exercises professional judgment in the performance and delivery of service excellence while maintaining a demeanor complementary to medical and professional code of ethics. Maintains knowledge of, observes, and enforces the safety measures in Environment of Care.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
High School graduate, minimum of 3 years working as Echocardiograph/Vascular, Sonographer performing adult, and geriatric echocardiograms, completion of a formal ECHO Cardiographic or an accredited Ultrasound program.
Minimum Experience/Skills:
A minimum of 3 years of experience as an Echocardiograph Sonographer in all modalities of Echo/Vascular adult and geriatric patients.
License/Certificates/Credentials:
Current BLS Certification. Must be RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer)
