Job Summary:

Under indirect supervision, constructs, fabricates, installs, maintains or repairs structures, fixtures, furniture, cabinetry or special projects; prepares paint and surface areas; paints surfaces using a variety of tools; assists with general maintenance duties as directed.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Constructs, fabricates, installs, maintains or repairs structures, fixtures, furniture, cabinetry or special projects; operates hand and power tools; ensures proper and satisfactory operation and/or usage.
• Removes old paint, smoothes and prepares surfaces for painting; selects premixed paints or prepares paint to match specified colors; paints surfaces, using brushes, spray gun or paint roller.
• Maintains necessary reports, data, and information pertaining to work performed, maintenance, repair or preventive maintenance situations.
• Assists with general maintenance duties as directed.
• Follows established departmental safety guidelines/standards, including use of safety equipment (e.g. head, shoe and body cover, gloves, shield, respirator and proper tools).
• Assists in training of other general maintenance workers and staff as needed.
• Performs other duties and accepts responsibility as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

• Two (2) years finished carpentry, painter or related experience.

Education

• Post high school coursework at trade school; or equivalent combination of education (lesser) & experience may be considered in lieu of requirements.

License, Certification, Registration

• Driver's License (from any state) required at hire
