2026 Summer InternLocation:
This internship role is scheduled to be flexible. Please be prepared to spend part of your time working remotely and part of your time working at the following location: Pasadena or Pleasanton, CA.
Department Details:
The Hospital System Operations team ensures seamless, safe, and efficient care delivery across our nationwide network of hospitals. We provide operational insight to support strategic decisions, lead the Care Without Delay initiative to get patients the right care at the right time in the right place, and oversee employee safety to maintain a secure work environment. Additionally, we manage the National Command Center (NCC), serving as the central hub for real-time coordination, crisis response, and operational excellence.
Internship Projects:
Data Analysis & Reporting: Compile and analyze hospital performance metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Process Improvement: Map patient flow processes and suggest optimizations to reduce delays in care. Assist in documenting and standardizing operational workflows.
Employee Safety Support: Research best practices for workplace safety and help update safety protocols. Develop training materials or quick-reference guides for staff safety compliance.
Special Projects: Benchmark operational practices against other health systems. Support communication efforts by drafting internal updates or presentations.

- Contributing to a designated project or initiative to meet a KP business objective.
- Report development and analytics.
- Project management - planning, execution, and measurement.
- Learning new applications needed to complete assignments or support the execution of business objectives.
- Job shadowing in other functional areas.

- Pursuing a graduate degree or have completed a graduate program from an accredited university within the last year.

Additional Requirements:
- Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulating solutions.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

- 3.0 GPA or above
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.

Pay Range: $32.45 - $41.99 / hour Kaiser Permanente is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted pay range is based on possible base salaries for the role and does not include the value of our total rewards package. Actual pay determined at offer will be based on years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills and geographic location along with a review of current employees in similar roles to ensure that pay equity is achieved and maintained across Kaiser Permanente. Travel: Yes, 25 % of the Time Flexible: Work location is on-site at a KP location, with the flexibility to work from home.
