The Medical Assistant (MA) will play a critical role in supporting FibroScan procedures and ensuring a seamless patient experience. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide compassionate care while maintaining operational efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Patient Preparation
- Confirm that the patient has fasted for at least 3 hours prior to the scan
- Explain the procedure clearly and address patient questions
- Position the patient appropriately: Lying on their back with the right arm raised above the head and the right abdominal area exposed
- Equipment Setup and Operation
- Select the appropriate probe type (M or XL) based on the patient's body type using the device's automated guidance 1
- Apply water-based gel to the scan area to ensure proper contact and signal transmission
- Place the FibroScan probe on the correct location of the abdomen and initiate the scan
- Measurement and Data Collection
- Post-Procedure Duties
- Clean the equipment and scan the area
- Document the procedure and any observations in the patient's medical record for physician interpretation
- In addition to performing FibroScan, the MAs will:
- Conduct initial patient outreach for scheduling and education
- Coordinate provider orders and documentation to ensure seamless workflow
- Support front and back-office operations, including vitals, managing supplies, and assisting with clinical documentation of the procedure
- Serve as a liaison between patients and providers, enhancing care coordination and patient satisfaction

Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program, or relevant experience
- BLS certification or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire
Preferred Qualification:
- 1+ year of experience in an ambulatory care setting with use of FibroScan or experience in Gastroenterology
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $27.69 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
