2026 Summer InternLocation:
This internship role is scheduled to be flexible. Please be prepared to spend part of your time working remotely and part of your time working from a Kaiser Permanente regional office. Finalists MUST reside in one of the following states to be eligible for employment with Kaiser Permanente: CA, OR, WA, HI, CO, GA, MD, VA, CT, DC, or IL.
Department Details:
Our Military Health & Veteran Programs team is dedicated to expanding Kaiser Permanente-s ability to serve those who have served our country. On the Military Health side, we are working to secure strategic contracts with the Defense Health Agency (DHA) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), enabling active-duty service members, retirees, and veterans to access our integrated model of high quality, coordinated care. On the Veteran Growth side, we focus on organically growing and retaining veteran membership across our commercial lines of business by strengthening our cultural competency, improving system navigation, and advancing interoperability with VA systems to reduce the burden on veterans who receive care across multiple environments. This work includes developing veteran specific care pathways, enhancing data exchange and continuity of care, and ensuring our teams understand and honor the unique experiences and needs of the veteran community. Collectively, these efforts reflect Kaiser Permanente-s commitment to becoming a trusted health partner for military service members, veterans, and their families while expanding access to care and improving health outcomes across this population.
Internship Projects:
We are seeking an analytical, detail-oriented professional to support the advancement of our veteran growth strategy and operational readiness. The role will focus primarily on finalizing our growth forecast, evaluating revenue cycle operational processes for alignment with new VA practices, and supporting additional projects as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and refinement of KP-s veteran growth forecast.
Conduct analytics on operational workflows to identify revenue/payment capture and process improvement opportunities.
Research and assess governmental processes related to recently implemented Acts related to the Dept of Veteran Affairs
Translate findings into clear recommendations for program strategy and operational planning.

Target Skillset:
Strong analytical capabilities and familiarity with health systems, government programs, or data analytics
Skilled at translating complex information into clear recommendations
Interest in the military and veteran health landscape
Proactive self-starter experienced in drafting business cases, SBARs, and executive summaries
Comfortable presenting insights to cross-functional teams
Able to work effectively across multiple projects and topic areas

- Pursuing a graduate degree or have completed a graduate program from an accredited university within the last year.

Additional Requirements:
- Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulating solutions.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3.0 GPA or above
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.

Pay Range: $29.13 - $37.65 / hour Kaiser Permanente is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted pay range is based on possible base salaries for the role and does not include the value of our total rewards package. Actual pay determined at offer will be based on years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills and geographic location along with a review of current employees in similar roles to ensure that pay equity is achieved and maintained across Kaiser Permanente. Travel: No Flexible: Work location is on-site at a KP location, with the flexibility to work from home. Worker location must align with Kaiser Permanente's Authorized States policy.
