Description:Job Summary:
Provides complete and appropriate neuropsychological evaluations for a wide variety of neurosurgical, neurological, psychiatric, neurorehabilitation and general medical/surgical patients. Collaborates with treating physician/psychiatric and allied health professional team to plan and direct each individual members treatment program.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Performs neuropsychological and psychodiagnostic evaluation of patients with actual and suspected neurological diseases and disorders, as well as patients with psychiatric disorders and pediatric and adult general medical patients with psychological or neuropsychological symptoms.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: May provide clinical supervision to doctoral psychology interns, postdoctoral psychology fellows, and other mental health trainees or medical residents as necessary.
- Consults with regard to cognitive and behavioral rehabilitation for patients with neurological disorders (e.g., aneurysm, stroke and traumatic brain injury.) May act as a liaison between psychiatry and other medical departments to develop appropriate triage and treatment programs for patients with complex medical and psychological/psychosocial needs. May participate in clinical activities with neurologists, neurosurgeons, psychiatrists and physiatrists. Consults with team members and other professionals as needed.
- May provide direct intervention with patients, specific to neuropsychological issues (e.g., family consultation, care and treatment planning where indicated. Participate in team meetings, provide timely and accurate clinical documentation.
Experience
- Minimum two (2) years (2000 hours minimum) neuropsychology residency/fellowship supervised by a neuropsychologist.
Education
- Doctorate degree (PhD/PsyD) in Psychology from an American Psychological Association accredited (or equivalent) doctoral program. Academic courses should reflect didactic and experiential training in neuropsychology and psychopathology.
License, Certification, Registration
- This job requires credentials from multiple states. Credentials from the primary work state are required at hire. Additional Credentials from the secondary work state(s) are required post hire.
- Psychologist License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire
- Psychologist License (Washington) within 6 months of hire
- National Provider Identifier required at hire
Additional Requirements:
- Documented experience dealing with a wide variety of neurosurgical, neurological, psychiatric and general medical/surgical patients.
- Knowledge of state regulations and APA standards as they relate to client treatment, patient rights, client/patient confidentiality, and other ethical issues.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- Predoctoral internship with specialized training in neuropsychology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) or more years of direct patient care experience in a clinical setting (e.g., outpatient clinic, hospital.)
