Description

Job Summary:

Under direct supervision, provides an environmentally clean surgical area in accordance to KP standards and regulatory requirements; assists with the transportation and positioning of patients within specific Operating Room guidelines. Responsible for the storage and movement of supplies and equipment within the surgery department.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Maintains a clean and safe physical environment for patients and staff.
• Responsible for between case cleaning, terminal cleaning and assisting with room turnovers.
• Assists in transporting and/or positioning of patients.
• Executes proper use, care and handling of equipment and supplies.
• Transports supplies and specimens to the operating rooms, sterile processing department, laboratory, Pathology, and x-ray departments as required.
• Maintains appropriate stock levels in assigned areas.
• Maintains effective relationships with co-workers, staff, and physicians while adhering to the Perioperative Services Policies and Procedures.
• Performs other related duties as directed.

• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

• Basic Life Support
  

Additional Requirements:

• General understanding of medical and aseptic techniques required.
• Effective interpersonal skills required to communicate with the nursing staff.
• In order to work effectively with patients, must have effective interpersonal and communication skills and be able to stand, walk, bend, lift at least 50 pounds, hear, speak, and see.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum of one (1) year of hospital, operating room orderly assistant or attendant experience preferred.
