Opportunities at Owensboro Health, in strategic partnership with Optum. Our team of talented people works to improve the health outcomes of the communities we serve. As an Optum employee, you will provide support to the Owensboro health account. They are a nonprofit system with over 200 providers at more than 20 locations, 3 outpatient facilities, a certified medical fitness facility, a surgical weight loss center and the Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center. Connecting. Growing together.This position is full-time, Monday - Friday, with rotating Saturdays. Employees are required to work shifts during our normal business hours of 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.
This position works from any of our 3 facilities as business needs determined. Our offices are located at 2200 E Parrish Ave, Owensboro, KY, 42303, 1006 Ford Avenue, Owensboro, KY 42301, 1000 Breckenridge Street, Owensboro, KY 42303.
We offer the first 8 weeks (full-time) of paid training. The hours of the training will be 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM CST from Monday - Friday. Training will be conducted onsite.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Schedules appointment times using computerized scheduling programs
- May communicate with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure availability of facilities and staff
- Communicate with patients and / or their families to provide necessary pre-procedure instructions and / or to confirm appointments
- Performs insurance verification and / or pre - authorizations as necessary
- May be responsible for entering patient demographic information and scanning documents into an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
- May correspond with referring providers and / or patients for reports, information exchange, scheduling, x - rays, and paperwork. The pace is fast, so your ability to multi-task is essential. You should also enjoy working with people and have the communication skills necessary to build strong relationships with our customers

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- Ability to work onsite at any of our facilities is needed. Our offices are located at 2200 E Parrish Ave, Owensboro, KY, 42303, 1006 Ford Avenue, Owensboro, KY 42301, 1000 Breckenridge Street, Owensboro, KY 42303. This role requires flexibility to travel to patients/facilities.
- Ability to work any shift 3 days per week between the hours of 7am - 5:30pm
- Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ years of related work experience, including data entry
- 1+ years of customer service experience
- Working knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology
