Description
VARIABLE DAYS/HOURS RAD TECH RFMJob Summary:
Provide radiological services to patients in accordance with physicians orders including EKG procedures. Maintain and operate radiology diagnostic / EKG equipment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Diagnostic Testing: Performs general radiographic images through the use of clinical protocols and positions patients to best demonstrates anatomic area of interest, respecting patients comfort and ability. Demonstrates the knowledge to perform general radiographic procedures through the use of radiological equipment. Evaluates radiographs or images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide radiology services to all age groups served, to include: geriatrics, adults, adolescents, and pediatrics. Provides patient education on all procedures according to age-specific needs. Facilitates patients cooperation and alleviates anxiety. Addresses all patients concerns. Verifies appropriate procedure to be performed by checking physicians orders by checking outpatient prescriptions. Contacts physicians if there are any discrepancies.
- Diagnostic Testing: Perform EKG exams through the use clinical protocols. Enter data into EKG machine, hook-up patient and instruct patient on procedure. Be knowledgeable of EKG and equipment. Enter, edit, and retrieve data from MUSE system. Should be able to to identify problems with the equipment and respond appropriately.
- Customer Service: Provides timely, responsive, expert services to customers in a positive friendly manner, to include patient, physicians, and other fellow employees. Informs consumers and those accompanying them when delays exist and how they are being addressed. Promotes patient focused care throughout daily activities. Provides quality patient care to include preparation, scheduling, and teaching all types of patient procedures as needed. Maintains strict patient and employee confidentiality, as appropriate.
- Patient and Employee Safety: Maintains safe radiation levels at all times to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others. No deviation from written procedures in Policy and Procedure Manual on radiation safety rules. Performs all necessary equipment checks prior to use, thereby protecting patient and staff safety. Ensures patient and regulatory standards are adhered to and suggests ways to improve patient outcomes when indicated. Completes quality assurance, quality control and radiation safety activities as appropriate. Establishes patients identification. Ensures no repeat studies due to failure to check armband and/or properly identified patient. Observes patient during procedures and reports any unusual occurrences or changes in patients condition to appropriate personnel.

Arrives at the start of the assigned shift ready to begin work; takes lunch and breaks at appropriate times, and leaves work at the end of the assigned shift. Maintains neat, clean and well stock radiology room with no exceptions. Identifies staff training issues and participates in policy and procedures development as appropriate. Communicates concerns as appropriate to lead technologists and management.
Experience
- Minimum one (1) year of diagnostic experience.
Education
- Graduation from an accredited school as a radiologic technologist.
License, Certification, Registration
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Radiography OR Radiologic Technologist Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
- Certified Radiologic Technologist (Washington)
- Basic Life Support required at hire
Additional Requirements:
- Communication, interpersonal, customer service and problem solving-skills.
- Knowledge and support of radiation safety, safety precautions and infection control practices.

Pay Range: $28.17 - $36.43 / hour Kaiser Permanente is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted pay range is based on possible base salaries for the role and does not include the value of our total rewards package. Actual pay determined at offer will be based on years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills and geographic location along with a review of current employees in similar roles to ensure that pay equity is achieved and maintained across Kaiser Permanente. Travel: Yes, 10 % of the Time On-site: Work location is on-site (KP designated office, medical office building or hospital).
