Job Summary
The Cardiovascular RN as part of an integrated lab (Cardiac/EP & IR) plans, delivers and evaluates nursing care to designated patients under the direction and supervision of the Director and/or designee. Functions as a team leader and facilitator providing communications with other health team members. The nurse closely monitors the patient for complications, administers medications including moderate sedation, documents the procedure, and also may circulate or scrub into procedures. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires. Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action while working in a critical care environment. Will take call for emergent procedures with on-call arrival time requirement of 30min. Understands and follows hospital policy and procedures. All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education / Licensure / Certifications
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:
- Licensed Registered Nurse, State of Florida
- Current BLS certification
- ACLS certification within 3 months of hire
Minimum Experience
- At least one year of nursing in the critical care setting (ie. ICU, ED, Trauma).
- Prefer three years critical care experience.
- Prefer prior experience in procedural areas (ie. Cath/IR/EP/Neuro).
Physical Requirements
Working Conditions:
- Subject to normal working conditions.
- Lifting up to 40 pounds
- On-call duty
Physical Requirements:
- Occasionally required to lift greater than 40 pounds with staff assistance and/or approved lifting device
- Frequently required to lift, move or turn patients.
- Consistently required to communicate with patients, physicians and staff.
- Competencies in literacy (ability to write and speak English)
- Routine exposure to radiation with appropriate barrier provided
