Job Summary
FULL-TIME DAYS
$15,000 Sign on bonus for experienced Respiratory Therapist
The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care to patients.
General Functions:
- Performs all aspects of respiratory care to include diagnostic test of the cardio-pulmonary system according to policy and procedures under the direction of the Medical Director, Department Director, Coordinator/Team Leader
Department/Business Unit Functions:
- Responds to emergency situations
- Maintains competencies to ensure compliance with all regulatory statutes
- Administers medication and treatments in accordance with established policies
- Reports identified unusual patient conditions/reaction to immediate supervisor
- Prepares electronic documentation of all work/service rendered and provides written/verbal report to oncoming staff
- Performs quality control on all Respiratory Care equipment to include I-STAT blood gas analyzers
- Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
- Maintains safe environment
- Addresses patient population-specific needs
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited AMA Respiratory Care Program
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Some experience in hospital respiratory care or related area.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current RCP State of Texas License, Possession of current CRT / RRT Certification from NBRC Renewal required every 5 years unless grandfathered prior to July 1, 2002)
REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
AHA ACLS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role.
AHA PALS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role if covering Pedi.
AHA NRP must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role if covering NICU.
