Description
This position provides timely, reliable, and actionable analytical solutions to hospital and ambulatory operators. The Senior Analyst will serve as a key SQL and analytics expert within the Data & Analytics team, supporting clinical, operational, quality, and financial decision-making through advanced querying, automation, and data quality practices.Job Responsibilities
This role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain automated, stable, and scalable BI and analytics solutions using SQL-driven data models to support clinical and operational priorities related to quality, safety, and performance.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to extract, transform, and analyze data from enterprise data warehouses and source systems.
- Develop and maintain SQL scripts and automated jobs (e.g., scheduled processes, refresh routines, data pipelines) to support recurring reporting and analytics needs.
- Perform data cleansing, validation, and transformation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of analytical datasets.
- Identify the most efficient data sources and develop standardized analytical datasets, metrics, and statistical algorithms for quality, patient experience, volume, and financial measures.
- Ensure data integrity by collaborating closely with the Tenet EDW/BI team on database structures, data definitions, interfaces, and data quality standards.
- Build and enhance dashboards, reports, and user interfaces using tools such as Business Objects and Power BI, with a strong SQL foundation supporting all reporting layers.
- Define problem statements, analytical scope, development timelines, and strategic prioritization in partnership with senior leaders and key stakeholders.
- Translate complex SQL-based analyses into clear, actionable insights for hospital and ambulatory operators.
- Train and educate end users on how to effectively interpret and use reports, dashboards, and underlying metrics.
- Participate in team initiatives and support additional analytics deliverables as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required in finance, economics, statistics, computer science, or a related field
- Master's degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in data analytics, reporting, or a healthcare analytics environment
- Advanced SQL expertise, including complex queries, joins, stored procedures, functions, and performance tuning
- Hands-on experience developing SQL scripts for automation, scheduled jobs, and recurring data processes
- Strong experience with data cleansing, transformation, and validation within large relational databases
- Proficiency with data visualization and reporting tools such as Business Objects and Power BI
- Experience with statistical and analytical tools such as R and/or SAS; Python scripting experience is a plus
- Strong technical skills with an emphasis on working with large, complex datasets
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Strong project management, communication, and collaborative problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
