Primary Duties
1. Understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
2. Conveys instruments and supplies to the surgeon as necessary, and is responsible for the maintenance of the sterile field.
3. Maintains and follows accepted hospital procedures under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.
4. Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment utilized during the surgical procedure.
5. Demonstrates ability to communicate and work effectively with other members of the surgical team.

Position Summary
Assists with patient care in the Surgery environment.
Minimum Education/Certification/Experience:
- High School Diploma
Preferred:
- Completion of a formal OR tech training program
- Certified as an Operating room technician
Required:
- Current BLS Certification
Physical demands:
- Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 lbs.)
- Prolonged standing/walking
- Lifts, positions, pushes and/or assists with patient transfers
- Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching
Working Conditions:
- Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances
- May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
- Exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and wastes
- Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements
- Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases
- Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
