Description
Job SummaryThe Senior HR Specialist is responsible for assisting the Director, Human Resources with implementation and execution of the various human resources related strategic initiatives. Participates in various aspects of human resources programs, coordinating programs or activities as assigned, supporting multi-market HR operations across San Antonio, Houston, Tennessee, and Missouri for a workforce of approximately 1,600 employees across a large multi-site healthcare network.
Responsibilities
Areas of responsibility include:
- General HR functions, workers compensation, employee relations, training and development, & rewards and recognition programs.
- Facilitate the resolution of various Human Resources problems and provide support to employees and management staff consistent with the policies and procedures established.
- Manage full-cycle onboarding and compliance processes, including execution of new hire orientation, I-9 collection and verification, Red Carpet onboarding task management, policy acknowledgements, and badge/access coordination.
- Oversee physician and advanced practice provider onboarding, including Pending Worker set up, background checks, drug screens, credentialing coordination, and department/cost center alignment.
- Lead onboarding execution for acquisitions, including offer letter creation, position creation and profile setup in myHR, seniority date entry, background checks and drug screen tracking, benefits coordination for Day 1 eligibility, and on-site Day 1 onboarding execution.
- Support compensation and payroll-critical processes by preparing offer letters, processing compensation changes, and administering retention, referral, and sign-on bonuses while validating eligibility at 90-day and one-year milestones.
- Coordinate payroll-sensitive actions across multiple cycles and facilities, including severance calculations, PCNs, agreements, and termination processing, as well as retroactive and exception-based pay updates requiring HRIS coordination.
- Manage workforce changes and high-risk employee transactions such as resignations, reductions in force, internal and global transfers, and title, FTE, and department changes.
- Provide documentation support for unemployment, workers' compensation, and credentialing matters while maintaining audit-ready reporting, anniversary and birthday rosters, and scheduled HR analytics reporting to support leadership visibility and compliance.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3 -6 years of HR Operations and onboarding execution, I-9 and employment eligibility compliance, HRIS and onboarding system administration, multi-site coordination and process management, payroll sensitive HR transactions, documentation and compliance tracking.
- MS Office 365 / MS Excel (pivot tables/formulas) for reporting/forms/surveys.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with employees, medical personnel, and other members of the health care team.
- Ability to work on multiple projects, work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision.
- Capable of data collection, analysis and interpretation.
- Creation of documents to support data findings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Must display a high degree of discretion and confidentiality.
- Working knowledge of EEOC, federal and state labor laws, FMLA, and ADA.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- Prior experience in a Healthcare setting.
- SHRM-SCP, SPHR or CHHR, or equivalent HR certification.
- Experience with myHR Oracle and/or RedCarpet.
