Job Summary
Shift: Nights
Job Type: Full Time
- Reporting to the Patient Care Services Director/Shift Manager, the Nursing Assistant performs duties under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN)/Charge Nurse and is responsible for providing high quality individualized care activities.
- The unit is not limited to a single-organ subspecialty, thus employees must demonstrate competency and greater flexibility to care for a wide range of specialties including but not limited to medical, cardiac telemetry, surgical orthopedic, surgical obstetrics (non-postpartum), oncology (to include chemotherapy), dialysis, and medical/surgical neuro patients.
- The Nursing Assistant supports the unit mission and aim for patient focused quality care and excellence in customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED.
Minimum Experience/Skills:
Minimum of 6 months direct patient care experience in acute or sub acute unit. Knowledge of medical terminology, basic computer knowledge.
License/Certificates/Credentials:
Current BLS certification, Certified Nursing Assistant certification required or current 2nd semester nursing student when hired or transferred into position.
Physical Demands:
Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking. Lift/position up to 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 50 lbs of force. Transfer patients, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, manual dexterity and mobility, ability to move quickly.
Vision Requirements: Ability to adjust vision sufficiently to perform duties.
Working Conditions: Regularly exposed to the risk of contagious and blood borne diseases, subject to varying and, unpredictable situations, exposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, illness), emergency and crisis situations, subject to irregular hours, occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries, occasional exposure to radiation hazards, radioactive substances, and biohazards.
