Job Summary
FULL-TIME ROTATE
The Dietary Cook prepares food for various areas of the department. Other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
General Functions:
- Prepares food for cafeteria and/or patient services and other areas as assigned.
- Follows standardized recipes.
- Works as a grill cook in cafeteria if needed.
- Preps food for production as assigned.
- Prepares salads and desserts according to standardized recipes
- Handles the preparation of the food in accordance with sanitary regulations
- Assures that all BHS standards for safety, sanitation, and HACCP are adhered to at all times.
- Adheres to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Determines whether a product is prepared correctly and decides if it is to be served
- Discerns through vision (color perception) and taste the quality of prepared food items
- Demonstrates proficiency in the operation of all equipment used in the kitchen
- Understands and applies proper sanitation regulations to the daily operations of the department
- Checks temperature of prepared foods at various times during the day
- Communicates with verbal and written skills to coworkers and supervisors
- Assures the timely delivery of food
- Checks patient trays-temperature and content
- Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
- Maintains safe work environment
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities
Qualifications
PREFERRED EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 year of cooking experience in a restaurant or healthcare environment
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: ANSI Accredited Texas Food Handler or ANSI Accredited Food Manager course or Certified Food Manager from the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District
