Description
Job SummaryPrimarily responsible for monitoring services and providing community support services and therapeutic services. The BHC uses a basic knowledge of diagnostic characteristics, symptomology of primary mental illness and knowledge of medications, side effects and benefits to provide services in a person-centered, supportive, community-based environment. The LPC is monitored by periodic supervision.
Responsibilities
Assesses behavioral heal patients in Hospital emergency rooms and medical floors. Coordinates the transfer of patients between hospitals as well as from medical facilities outside of the system. Utilizes clinical skills to make decisions regarding placement of psychiatric or chemically dependent patients within the facility based on patient needs and physician requests, in collaboration with House Offices, nursing units, and hospital staff. Maintains awareness of current bed availability at all facilities on an ongoing basis.
Qualifications
Education:
Required: Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
Experience:
Required: If a new graduate, supervised-post graduate counseling experience (internship) with specified direct client contact under the supervision of a board-approved supervisor. Otherwise, 1 year of experience.
Certifications:
Required: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). AHA BLS.
