Description
Job Summary:In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position is responsible for developing and implementing long-term timelines and resource-allocation for all corrective repairs, routine preventive maintenance, and acceptance testing on all diagnostic imaging systems; ensuring diagnostic imaging studies are transferred to digital imaging environment with independent judgment and discretion; and developing and implementing long-term timelines and resource-allocation for the installations of all diagnostic imaging systems, electronic image transfer systems, and associated equipment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Prepares individuals for growth opportunities and advancement; builds internal collaborative networks for self and others. Solicits and acts on performance feedback; drives collaboration to set goals and provide open feedback and coaching to foster performance improvement. Demonstrates continuous learning; oversees the recruitment, selection, and development of talent; ensures performance management guidelines and expectations to achieve business needs. Stays up to date with organizational best practices, processes, benchmarks, and industry trends; shares best practices within and across teams. Motivates and empowers teams; maintains a highly skilled and engaged workforce by aligning resource plans with business objectives. Provides guidance when difficult decisions need to be made; creates opportunities for expanded scope of decision making and impact.
- Oversees the operation of multiple units within a department by identifying member and operational needs; ensures the management of work assignment completion; translates business strategy into actionable business requirements; ensures products and/or services meet member requirements and expectations while aligning with organizational strategies. Gains cross-functional support for business plans and priorities; assumes responsibility for decision making; sets standards, measures progress, and fosters resolution of escalated issues. Communicates goals and objectives; analyzes resources, costs, and forecasts and incorporates them into business plans; prioritizes and distributes resources. Removes obstacles that impact performance; guides performance and develops contingency plans accordingly; ensures teams accomplish business objectives.
- Ensures that documentation is adequately maintained by: developing and implementing long-term plans using the centralized maintenance management system; creating new, and evaluating existing standards, procedures and protocols for all major processes and revising as needed; and directing long-term plans for utilizing the parts of inventory for medical devices and software.
- Oversees the equipment lifecycle by: managing the long-term timeline and available resources for installing, updating, and modifying medical equipment; collaborating with senior leadership to plan and implement the introduction and acceptance testing of new equipment; ensuring that investigations of medical equipment involved in patient and employee accidents and/or incidents are resolved, adequately documented, and remediation and preventative action has been taken; and advising senior leadership on the long-term plan for the purchase of new medical equipment and software, and recommending decommissioning of obsolete or irreparable equipment.
- Oversees ongoing preventative maintenance of medical equipment by: conducting strategic planning for the future of inspections and functionality tests of medical equipment (e.g., integrated, interoperable) medical devices and software; managing the long-term timeline and available resources for preventative maintenance of medical equipment and software (e.g., replacing parts); ensuring that maintenance is completed in alignment with organizational and regulatory compliance; and developing and implementing long-term plans for preventative maintenance in alignment with organizational strategy.
- Oversees the repairs of medical equipment and software by: directing long-term strategic objectives for troubleshooting and repairing medical equipment and software; and ensuring corrective repairs meet and exceed multiple critical metrics of own organization with a focus on long-term success; establishing strategies for meeting organizational objectives for resolving malfunctions on a variety of medical device and software systems; and providing expertise and oversight across teams to ensure the correct completion of medical equipment and software repairs to avoid future issues.
- Contributes to the appropriate use of outside resources by: developing protocol and managing the budget for the use of outside resources in alignment with organizational strategy; and developing and implementing policies for managing team members requests for outside resources, resolving issues with vendors, and managing long-term relationships with vendor organizations.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience managing operational or project budgets.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports.
- Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Social/Physical/Life Science, Business, or related field AND Minimum ten (10) years of experience in engineering (Biomedical, Clinical, Mechanical, Electrical), engineering technology, or directly related field, OR Minimum thirteen (13) years of experience in biomedical technology field service with biomedical devices and systems or a directly related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three (3) years of experience in a healthcare delivery, multi-hospital environment in a leadership/managerial role providing medical equipment and consultative services for hospital and/or medical office buildings (clinic).
- Master's degree in related field (i.e. health administration, MS engineering, and MBA).
- Lean/Six Sigma or related certification.

Pay Range: $186100 - $240790 / year Kaiser Permanente is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted pay range is based on possible base salaries for the role and does not include the value of our total rewards package.
