Our Story

We started out as a small operation in California. In May 1969, we acquired four hospitals, some additional care facilities and real estate for the future development of hospitals. Over the years, we've grown tremendously in size, scope and capability, building a home in new markets over time, and curating those homes to provide a compassionate environment for those entrusting us with their care.

We have a rich history at Tenet. There are so many stories of compassionate care; so many 'firsts' in terms of medical innovation; so many examples of enhancing healthcare delivery and shaping a business that is truly centered around patients and community need. Tenet and our predecessors have enabled us to touch many different elements of healthcare and make a difference in the lives of others.

Today, we are leading health system and services platform that continues to evolve in lockstep with community need. Tenet's operations include three businesses - our hospitals and physicians, USPI and Conifer Health Solutions.

Our impact spreads far and deep with 65 hospitals and approximately 510 outpatient centers and additional sites of care. The work Conifer is doing will help provide the foundation for better health for clients across the country, through the delivery of healthcare-focused revenue cycle management and value-based care solutions.

Job Summary

The TPR Compliance Officer reports directly to USPI Group Compliance Lead, who reports directly to the USPI Chief Compliance Officer and VP of Compliance Operations. The TPR Compliance Officer is responsible for managing the implementation of Tenet's Ethics and Compliance Program in his or her assigned region. The TPR Compliance Officer's general duties and responsibilities encompass implementing Tenet's systems, processes, and policies designed to ensure compliance with federal healthcare program requirements. The TPR Compliance Officer is also responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Quality, Compliance and Ethics Charter in his or her assigned region.

Responsibilities and activities:

• Provide compliance leadership in assigned region on issues concerning ethics and compliance matters, including recommending controls designed to ensure compliance.
• Work collaboratively with facility and regional leadership within assigned territory to ensure ethics and compliance, privacy/security program development and implementation.
• Establish effective working relationships and build credibility with stakeholders to support a culture of ethics and compliance.
• Interface directly with leadership and employees at facilities within assigned territory to serve as a sounding board for their concerns about ethics and compliance matters.
• Assist with Compliance Committee and/or Board Committee preparations and meetings as applicable.
• Assists in the implementation of Tenet education and training program that focuses on the requirements of the Quality, Compliance and Ethics Charter, Tenet's Ethics and Compliance program, and the privacy and security program to ensure that all employees, contractors, and physicians within the region are knowledgeable of Federal healthcare program requirements and the requirements of the Ethics and Compliance program as required to perform their respective roles.
• Coordinate with TPR counsel to facilitate communication between the Ethics and Compliance Department and Law Department on legal and compliance matters.
• Assists in auditing, monitoring and oversight of processes related to identified risks.
• Conduct regular site visits using standard tools as required.
• Oversee the implementation of corrective actions and monitoring in response to identified issues and audits.
• Implement approved monitoring systems and processes for ethics and compliance issues.
• Oversee implementation of approved procedures that encourage facility employees, leadership, contractors, and physicians to report suspected fraud or other improprieties without the fear of retaliation.
• Work collaboratively with team members and corporate personnel to resolve all compliance issues identified.
• Implement the Tenet /TPR hospital compliance work plan initiatives, and systems to prevent compliance and privacy/security issues from arising within assigned facilities.
• Act as a consultative resource on ethics and compliance matters.

Required Background:

• Three to five years of progressive compliance experience in hospital, surgical centers and/or clinical practices compliance, for a larger multi-faceted healthcare company
• Demonstrated knowledge in compliance process improvement and the requirements of federal healthcare programs requirements
• Demonstrated experience implementing and managing compliance programs remotely for a larger number of facilities
• Demonstrated experience working within a hospital, health system, or other regulated healthcare environment.
• Experience in:
• Developing and implementing corrective action plans.
• Conducting or overseeing audits/monitoring activities.
• Compliance training development and delivering presentations.
• Compliance data analysis, trend reporting, dashboard utilization.
• Proven negotiation skills and the ability to influence stakeholders - particularly senior leaders with indirect authority

• Comfortable making decisions in ambiguous or evolving environments.

Travel:

• Some travel required.
  • Selected candidate will be required to pass Motor Vehicle Record check.

Education and Certifications:

• A Bachelor's Degree required; master's degree preferred.
• CHC certification required

Compensation:

• Pay: $98,592 - $157,664 annually. Compensation depends on location, qualifications, and experience.
• Position may be eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan bonus of 10%-25% depending on role level.
• Management level positions may be eligible for sign-on and relocation bonuses.
