Description
Job Summary:Follows appropriate protocols when performing radiologic/fluoroscopic examinations through the thorough assessment of a patients clinical history, ensuring patients are received and doubled identified, and identifying factors that will result in optimum imaging for each patient, while also providing mentoring and training more junior personnel. Fosters an individualized and compassionate patient care atmosphere by delivering comprehensive education to patients on relevant procedures, customizing and overseeing the implementation of appropriate protocols for patient privacy and safety, and addressing patient questions/concerns while providing training and support to more junior personnel. Prioritizes patient and employee safety by overseeing the implementation of all internal and external safety-related regulations, policies, and procedures, while monitoring and ensuring the accuracy and appropriateness of safety measures and instructions. Participates in the day-to-day operations of the department by preparing and ensuring the preparation of departmental supplies and disposables for use in assigned areas while proposing opportunities for advancing access, service quality, and efficiency.

- Contributes to an individualized and compassionate patient care atmosphere by: delivering comprehensive education to patients on relevant procedures, facilitating patient cooperation through effective communication and mentoring personnel; customizing and overseeing the implementation of appropriate policies for maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality; addressing and leading the handling of routine and escalated patient questions/concerns for service recovery, while providing training and support to junior personnel; and consistently monitoring and ensuring patient well-being and comfort during examination, proactively addressing any issues.
- Participates in the day-to-day operations of the department by: managing and ensuring the preparation of departmental supplies and disposables for use in assigned areas; and actively proposing and implementing enhancements to advance access, service quality, and efficiency through technical innovation and daily operations.
- Prioritizes patient and employee safety by: overseeing the implementation of comprehensive internal and external safety-related regulations, policies, and procedures (e.g., National Patient Safety Goals, As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) Principles); consistently monitoring and ensuring the accuracy and appropriateness of safety measures and instructions provided to patients, family members, and hospital staff as required; ensuring the thorough implementation and enforcement of rules, regulations, and standards to improve quality of care, streamline operations, and mitigate risk within their team or department; and proactively escalating and managing equipment malfunctions, accidents, and/or unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
- Follows appropriate protocols when performing radiologic/fluoroscopic examinations by: leading the critical review of orders and a thorough assessment of a patients clinical history with the exam to be performed to screen for contraindications; independently receiving and double identifying patients using appropriate criteria prior to performing the study ordered, while mentoring and training junior personnel; ensuring data entry into the Radiology Information System (RIS) is accurate and addressing any discrepancies; leveraging a highly advanced understanding of the features and performance capabilities of the general radiology, fluoroscopy, and portable imaging systems; adapting and innovating strategies when selecting the technical factors that will result in optimum imaging for each patient; validating and ensuring the precision and successful transmission of required images to the Diagnostic Imaging Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) for Radiologist interpretation; and coordinating the efficient dismissal of patients for transport at the end of the procedure, providing assistance as needed.

- Minimum one (1) year of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.
- Associates degree in Anatomy, Physiology, Biology, radiological science, Healthcare Administration, or a directly related field AND minimum four (4) years of radiologic technology experience, or experience in a directly related field OR minimum five (5) years of radiologic technology experience, or experience in a directly related field.
- Radiologic Technologist Certification required at hire
