Job Summary
Job Shift: Days
Job Type: Per Diem
To provide direct patient care during the perioperative phase. To function interdependently with surgeons and apply knowledge, skills and judgment necessary to assist the surgeon in the surgical treatment of the patient. Functions under the supervision of the Surgeon and Registered Nurse. When not assisting surgeon, will function as surgical scrub technician. Complies with the objectives and policies of the hospital and with surgical services standards of care. Required to work flexible hours and be on call nights, weekends and holidays. Knowledge of, adherence of monitoring and compliance of all regulatory and licensing agencies including but not limited to JCAHO, OSHA, AHCA, CMS.
Responsibilities
- Provides safe and efficient patient Care delivery throughout Surgical Services
- Implements and follows plan of care.
- Maintains a Safe Surgical Environment.
- Reviews all surgical cases logged through scheduling.
- Maintains Overall Competencies related to Surgical First Assistant role
Qualifications
Minimum Education
- HS education.
- Preferred: College
- Graduate of a surgical technology assistant program.
Minimum Experience
- Previous OR experience with a Minimum of 3 years orthopedic experience.
Licensure
- Surgical Tech or above.
Certifications
- Current Certification First Assist with 350 documented surgical cases as a first assist.
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- Certified Surgical Technology First Assist
