Job Summary
Under direct supervision of a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), the Vascular Student Extern assists in performing non-invasive vascular diagnostic procedures including carotid duplex, venous reflux, and arterial studies while developing clinical competency.
Responsibilities
- Assists in performing a variety of vascular ultrasound procedures
- Assists with producing clear and undistorted images as indicated per established protocols
- Identifies and visualizes all necessary anatomy, measurements, and correctly labels structures.
- Recognizes normal and abnormal vascular anatomy and physiology and reports critical values and abnormal findings per established policy and procedures.
- Utilizes 2-Dimensional, M-Mode, color flow, and Doppler imaging techniques when indicated
- Assures correct patient information on requests, reports, and PACS.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
Required:
- Education: Required: Enrolled in an accredited program for Vascular Technology or Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with a vascular concentration
- Certifications/Registrations/Licenses:
- American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required.
- Must be obtained within 7 days of hire.
Preferred:
- Experience: 0 - 2 years of experience.
